Right to an expert assessment and lump-sum expenses
Whether a traffic accident has caused only minor sheet-metal damage is rarely apparent at first glance. If the damage exceeds approximately 700 €, you have a right to an expert (Sachverständiger) who will assess the damage in a report. The cost of the expert is borne by the opposing insurer, as is the lump-sum expenses allowance (Auslagenpauschale). You also have the right to a rental car or a use-loss compensation (Nutzungsausfall) for the duration of the repair.
